Every summer, thousands of international students descend upon America’s
summer resorts to clean hotel rooms and wash dishes. Elena and Nikoleta
are college freshmen from small towns in Eastern Europe who need to
earn money to pay tuition and help their struggling families. It will be
their first international trip, their first time on a plane, and it
will be a dream come true … even if they are just going to work as hotel
maids in South Carolina. At their university in Bulgaria, they are
future bankers and journalists. In America they are just “the help."
